Madeleine Ross
Madeleine Ross practices criminal and regulatory litigation. Her practice includes both trial and appellate advocacy, where she has represented clients at all levels of court in Ontario.
Madeleine defends clients facing all types of charges, from regulatory charges and professional discipline matters to serious Criminal Code offences. She has extensive experience dealing with complex litigation, including cases involving alleged Securities Act violations, fraud, sexual offences, firearm and drug offences, and murder. Madeleine also represents young people charged under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Madeleine brings to the practice her experience as defence counsel at top criminal law firms in Toronto. She has been involved in challenging the constitutionality of legislation, including Criminal Code provisions related to the Sex Offender Information Registration Act (SOIRA). Madeleine has also assisted with criminal matters across the country, including in Manitoba and Newfoundland, both at trial and on appeal.
Education and Awards
Madeleine obtained her law degree from the University of Ottawa. She graduated cum laude and received several scholarships for her academic achievement and community involvement. During law school, Madeleine worked for Justice Canada and completed an internship with a high-profile criminal defence firm. Before law school, Madeleine received her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Indigenous Studies from Trent University, where she graduated on the President’s Honour Roll and Dean’s Honour Roll. Madeleine also completed her Bachelor of Education at Queen’s University.
